I’ve been on help forum all day and I can’t figure this out. I have an F1 with software and firmware updated.
The RA2 does not respond (spin) after checking all setup parameters. Test doesn’t work. No reposing to console commands.
Device: xTool F1
Firmware: VER:40.51.013.2020.01.ht5
Issue: No Y-axis movement, minimal GRBL responses.
I’ve verified there is communication as the Frame button causes activity but no spin. Not even GROK3 could find my problem!
Edit: My macOS is 10.15.7. I realize that’s old. I cannot effort to upgrade so any help would help me out tremendously!
If everything looks like it is working, but the Rotary does not move, most likely is a wiring error.
Some rotaries are shipped with two short 4-wire patch cables. If you look close at one end, you will see one of them has the middle two wires crossed. The other does not.
I have the xTool RA2 chuck rotary and it did come with these two cables. I use my rotary on Sculpfun machines, so surely it should work on your xTool.
I think it is probably not a wiring error because the RA2 rotor works perfectly when the F1 laser is used with xtool XCS software. It’s only a problem when using Lightburn. Perhaps Lightburn might work with a wiring change but then I would have to change cables every time I change software.
Lightburn sends Yaxis moves to the controller. That is the only thing it does. The controller takes it from there. Are you using the Yaxis when using the rotary?
Did you try switching the wires (or use the cross-over pigtail they supplied)? I still think it is a wiring issue because (1) mine works perfectly fine with Lightburn in two different machines, and (2) Lightburn has nothing to do with it after sending the move command (Gnn) and how far (Ynn) to the controller.
