It was working, I have it enabled. I normally set me Z Height manually from the move options with Z disabled. All Z options are greyed out regardless of enabled disabled. Newest LB version, rolled back to previous, win10.
(after posting I rolled it back to 1.6.03.)
Like I said it was working and after homing on a project all Z options are greyed out. Restarted Laptop and machine.
I should add that in the screen shot, running that file it does run the offset I just can’t change it.
Yes but the Z should not be greyed out even with it disabled.
I set my laser height in the clamp manually to 50 mm above my work piece, then use move to lower it 25 mm for etching or lower to cut into the piece when cutting.
Having Z enable for those operations is not efficient.
Though to use a drag knife, Diamond drag bit or Pen/markers you need the Z enabled.
Again set not set all options are greyed out.
After rolling back and trying various things, including uninstalling and reinstalling
I was looking over settings, I clicked the enable out of bounds Box and my Z was no longer locked out.
Lightburn is pretty a cool program, I find it to be a bit buggy.
One cavet is it likes to switch size on you.
Lets say I have 11 mm x 15 mm box, it will switch it to 11.769 mm x whatever.
Thats very bad, you just have to check and correct it but still should not be a thing.
I am not so sure about this.
I replicate this on my 1.4.05 version and if I turn “on” the option Z axis those options you mentioned turn available. If the option is turn “off” those options turn grey.
What I also verified is that regardless of the option being “on” or “off” in the “move” window, the Z axis control button remains unchanged as it is active.
Exactly and it was locked out.
Like I said I do not want live Z when cutting or engraving.
My module is a fixed focus at 25 mm, so with Z homed, I just put it above the work piece and then use the tool holder that came with the machine (its 50 mm)
then use move to lower 25 mm for etching or lower to cut into the piece (helps tremendously with thick materials).
All with Z disabled.
The problem if you look at my screen shots was all Z options where locked out
regardless of Z being enabled or disabled.
That is for cut and move settings.
Disabling and enabling the out of bounds warning, fixed it.
I don’t know what the bug is, but that seems to be the culprit.
Its now working as it should.
The weird thing on top of that is I had the Z offset in the cut setting set prior to the Z being locked out.
It still used the offset with Z enabled, just could not change it.
I assume that has something to do with homing Z or some thing that kind. As Z can be “out of bounds” too disabling this option can fix the problem. But it should give some kind of message… I don’t know “the” why but I can understand the issue.
