Z control for Galvo

No perspiration.

Whenever you get to it.

:smiley_cat:

Who are you buying from?

A product name if it has one would be great. Are you saying if you dont resolve your dispute you wont be posting information about the zcontrol?

Don’t worry, I will do it either way

I will ask for a product name and the price.

Small update; There was some miscommunication between me and the supplier, so in the end there was no dispute to begin with.

Long story short, the delivery time was delayed because the supplier wanted to wait for a newly designed Z-tower with a speed reduction function to give a higher resolution in combination with the Z-control device.

According to him it is a new invention from their company and they have not settled on a seperate price for it. They actually intended to only incorporate it in their complete machines and didn’t plan for seperate sales. However I asked them to reconsiderate their decision, and they will come back to me on that point.

He asked me to wait for just a little while before releasing the video so they can discuss the seperate sales option.

If the seperate sales are not an option I will still post the video and the company name; In that case everyone is free to contact them.

I asked if it was OK if I upload a cropped version of the video which they agreed to. I have also inserted some white ‘noise’ at the end of the video where there company name is engraved.

The quality is not great, but you can see the machine engraving on three seperate hight levels. Inbetween you can hear the Z column raising the head to the right focus.

What I think I’m seeing there is different layers engraving at different heights. Not to speak for the LB Dev team, but my bet I dont think the LB software will handle anything like that anytime soon. Also just guessing, they are using their own software and likely
not an ezcad 2 board.

Well, it is implemented on my machine that has EZcad 2 board and they claim it does work with lightburn.

I didn’t even ask if it would work with LightBurn. He mentioned it himself. I specifically asked him multiple times to confirm that.

The machine is custom built to my specs so I am sure it has the EZcad 2 board.

Anyway. In about a month I will be able to test it myself and I will keep you updated!

That will be really cool.
Question, did you spec the ezcad 2 lite board $150-$250.00+/_ (also called Original) or the ezcad 2 standard board $850.00+/_
If you have a picture the lite has 2 DB15 plugs and 1 DB25, the standard has a DB9, 2 DB15’s, a DB 25, and maybe a male 25.
Most of us mere mortals end up with the $250 model.

I will ask him later when I get home

It says on the invoice ‘original’. I didn’t include the board type in the specs, only that it ahould be EZCad 2 so it would be compatible with LighBurn

Yep, that’s the lite. Nothing at all wrong with it. There are features that LB doesn’t use on the Standard, 2nd axis for one. Dedicated + and - for the axis extensions pul and dir also.
Every thing we need on the original or lite. So if they can do that magic with the lite board, I dont need to upgrade!

How do you tell the difference between boards without a reference?

It’s from the Cloudray site.

What kind of new invention could it be that uses the stock board and Lightburn?

In the video, I couldn’t tell much except I could hear it changing heights.

We’ll all be waiting for a good, understandable resolution… it would be great on my machine.

Many of the Chinese machines claim they can run with Lightburn, but I’ve found that many of the advanced feature of their machine can’t be used with Lightburn.

:smiley_cat:

I have no clue if it really is a new invention or not. However, he has been of great help to us answering quite a lot of detailed technical question. The guy knows what he is talking about. He doens’t seem to be ‘just another salesman’, but hey. I haven’t received my machines yet and haven’t been able to test or verify anything myself.

I will ask him if he perhaps would be able to send a video of the system working with LightBurn.

All I know is that the ‘device’ plugs into the rotary socket.

New boards there is a “A” after the bar code on the axis enabled one. Don’t know how on the old style.

So is there any news about this machine with the zcontrol or this going to be a secret squirrel thing.

it’s not secret, at this point, there is no support for a Z axes and a galvo.

I’m running Ubuntu, so an upgrade wouldn’t benefit me anyway.

I have asked the supplier if he could make a video of it working with LightBurn and said that any information would be very welcome.
He said he would reply to me later with some info about how it works with LightBurn when it is less busy.

Hey Peter G’day, TY for that info, so who is the supplier.,.. I am sure we can work out what he has from there. He obviously wants more business who knows maybe he can get some if he is selling a product that people obviously want.
