I am doing a project. z-offset is set at 27.4. one layer. as the laser is cutting it changes back to 0 in the middle of the project. any ideas?

Is your machine Z axis correctly setup? Read the Lightburn document please:

I think so. I did email the company, but everything was working until I received a replacement machine. I didn’t change any settings from the old to the new machine.
It´s a CO2 perhaps with a GRBL controller…
Do you have a copy of the original machine?
Did you setup your machine as GRBL or Ruida?
If GRBL type $$ in LightBurn console window and post here the output.
