6mm brown MDF WITH 22W AlgoLaser

Hi Guys, what are your cutting settings for 6mm MDF board in 22W algolaser? I tried different pass and different power/speed, but it is still burning. I have air assist as well

Does your laser have air assist? I makes a dramatic difference when cutting.

Also, are you trying to cut it in a single pass? Try speeding it up and using 6-8 passes.

I tried 1 to 3 pass, still burn or not cut. yes, I have air assist and my lens are clean

To get a reliable cut on 8mm bamboo with a 40w laser, I have made up to 20 passes. In my defense, 20 passes with a 40w CO2 laser did not get through. More passes is not necessarily a bad thing.

Lightburn Super Trick

Hello to all. Instead of making multi-pass cuts in intricate details where laser burns the same segment over and over again and that sometimes leads to material burn… You can automatically make 1 pass cut plus 1 pass cut plus 1 pass cut and so on to let material cool a bit. Using Lightburn sub-layers like in the enclosed example. It take a few seconds more but gives much better results. At the end of the job start the job again (3 times in this case) or use cut job with 9 cloned sub-layers, …

Thanks Fernando. Just to clarify, i will create 3 sublayers. All settings are 950mm/m and 97.5% power?

You could use less power, if you have a simple webcam pointed sideways to the job you could see when it’s cut (the laser light appears under the honeycomb) and let say if at the end of the 2nd sub-layer cut it’s cutted you can stop the job).
I always set 9 sub-layers and follow the job.
