Hello,
i have an image that i would like to use and also add text to image. I am new to laser engraver / lightburn. My goal is to take my image, incorporate text to the top of the image and then laser onto a piece of hardwood. Of course, getting the image for best clarity and text after laser does it job.
Text would be like — “To My Little Girl: I’ll Always Hold Your Hand. Love, Daddy.”
I have a sculpfun s30 pro max 20w engraver using lightburn software
Would i just import the picture into lightburn and then just add txt and then test away with speed/pwr settings? I have read maybe i should trace the image? image masking?
The best place to start is with the LightBurn doc:

Producing a good image on wood is extremely challenging, to the extend that you will not be successful without mastering the basics first. In particular, any advice we give will use terms and techniques you have yet to encounter.
Serious recommendation: practice on cheap materials, like cardboard, until you are certain you can produce accurate and consistent results. Even then, expect to ruin many slabs of the wood you try next.
If I understand the image correctly, however, you have some time …
thanks for the response. i have started looking at the lightburn documentation as you have suggested about 2 weeks ago. i will continue reading. on your recommendation… yes, i have extra materials that i will be using while testing.
thanks
I did see this post, this past weekend. Got me thinking of maybe it wasn’t that simple on importing a picture and adding text… hence the reach out on my post on imaging masking as well. will review and try this… appreciate the reach out.

You may increade the Offset per other resulting effects and place/adjust text.
First Step: after fine tuning your image and your text do a copy (Ctrl D) and place aside in your Lightburn Project, always work with a copy so if something goes wrong you don´t have to start over again
