You may be running below the start speed of your machine there. I had a similar issue trying to cut 13 mm acrylic. When I slowed down below the start speed it cut worse. I looked at my ammeter and it was only running at 7 or 8 milliamps where it should have been 25. See these threads for more info on that.
Hi all. I am very new to laser cutting and bought a small 65 watt used Boss LS machine to see if it would be wise for my company to invest in a new huge machine. I went through it and installed a new lens, mirrors and belts. I also gave it a full alignment. I set it up to cut some test patterns in 1mm and 2mm acrylic in Lightburn. The cuts were perfect. I made a change and tried to cut 4.5mm acrylic. I set the machine to something like 30/60 (30mm per second and 60% power) and it cut at ab…
I seem to have found a strange firmware limit in my OMtech 100W (USB1006c) laser. I was doing some materials tests with a file I had created in Lightburn 1.7 using the Shape Properties to set different power percentages for each speed setting. All went just as expected with the engraving tests, but something really weird happened with the cut tests. Basically I discovered that setting a speed of 8mm/s or lower caused the laser to limit the power, rather than use the power setting I had chosen - …
