Are there any plans to support the new Xtool machines like the F2 Ultra and F2 Ultra UV?

Is support for these lasers being worked on or is this a problem from xtool directly thats preventing them to work in light burn?

Ask xTool about it. The more pressure the users make, the more likely they are to help in supporting their units.

They don’t have much interest in getting other tools running since they have their own. It’s on xTool to provide specifications, not on LB to reverse engineer their modified protocols.

I believe that laser machine manufacturers generally choose LightBurn compatibility/collaboration, depending on the market position of their products. If the buyers of their machines are satisfied with the machines and the software provided, the manufacturer has no need or desire to cooperate with third-party software. It is therefore important that LightBurn maintains and expands its leading position in laser software so that potential (and existing) customers prefer to invest extra money in the best software for their machines.

And invest in machines that work with the best software. Caveat emptor.

..or Optimus vincet

Mikey, What I meant is, there are competitors out there who are not sleeping either. And if they manage to make their own good and functioning control software, they don’t need cooperation. And you can be sure that LB is aware of that too.
But if development continuity continues in the same way as in the last 7 years, without the price exploding, LightBurn has nothing to fear.

At the moment it doesn’t help much if the best software can’t handle new HW features and the customer wants just that. They will buy these machines and see if they can live with their software.

But, LightBurn will probably find solutions for that too, I’m sure.

Looks like xtool has lost their freaking mind,
Such a stupid excuse.

Thanks for sharing.

A few days ago, I sent them some recommendations for better integration of the F1 Ultra, and had questions about how it works in more detail. context
I received a similar response.

I’m pretty sure Xtools thinks they can do without LightBurn, that’s why they’re making these strange statements. Everyone is trying to protect their own interests, no exceptions.

When you are in first place, you are always looking over your shoulder.

The sad thing is, on either new or old designs, the purchaser has no idea what they are getting until it is too late to return it. I suspect buying is based more on marketing than solid research. Personally, I feel I was just plain dumb lucky on my purchases.

I think most people who are considering buying a MetalFab, for example, which still costs a small fortune, have investigated whether they can live with only their software at the moment. This also applies to 2.5 D UV laser machines, the products that can only be operated with the manufacturer’s software are measured and compared with LB, just as it was and still is for RD-Works and others. If the software is not up to par with LB, people switch to LB or choose other machines. If the software is good, people do not switch. I personally could not, for example, dream of switching to online-based software to manage my small laser workshop, which some products require. But it will be interesting to hear people’s experiences with XCS and see how they perform.

XTool seems to have invested a lot in their software, so I’m not surprised. They appear to be going in the same direction as Bambu Lab in the 3d printer realm with proprietary software that supports their proprietary hardware. It’s not as if LightBurn were an open source project that they could extend to accommodate new features.
