So I have purchased an R5 Conveyor to use with my Creality 10W to increase the Y Axis. I have it all connected up and tell Lightburn the necessary machine settings that Atomstack states. The conveyor kinda freaks out and I get the following errors:
ALARM:8
Homing fail. Cycle failed to clear limit switch when pulling off. Try increasing pull-off setting or check wiring.
ALARM:3
Reset while in motion. Grbl cannot guarantee position. Lost steps are likely. Re-homing is highly recommended.
I am not sure where I could be going wrong here. I have everything connected as the manuals state. Since lightburn sends Gcode, i cant imagine that this is an issue with Creality and Atomstack not speaking to each other correctly. After all its all just PMW and stepper motors so I cant seem to think that there would be much of an issue here… Can anyone shed some light for me?
Telling LB that the workspace has changed is not enough. Your laser needs to know as well. Did you change the machine settings and not only the device settings? Those are two different things. One is LB, the other is the laser. Both need to know the new size.
In as much you mean writing new firmware variables? I believe that is what i did through the device settings in lightburn, and then write to the controller, or is thst only telling lightburn? I wonder if recreating the device from scratch might make a difference? I appreciate your thoughts here and assistance.
If you did “write to controller” (that should be in machine settings window), then you already did it. The LightBurn settings are set in “device settings”. Maybe post a screenshot of both windows / changes.
If you did the modification via the machine settings, it will prompt you to write it back to the controller. If you did it via the Lightburn console, you’re talking directly to the controller.
Many additions may seem simple, but all it takes is a minute detail to make something not work. Many grbl machines out there have options put on/in by the factory that makes them nonstandard grbl devices for these options. So, it’s very possible the only way to use these options, such as a conveyor belt in this regard, is the OEM software supplied with your machine not Lightburn.
Keep in mind the Chinese are very tight lipped about their products, including communications about any soft/hardware specifics.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen this happen…
I have been made aware by the atomstack store that it is NOT compatible with other Manufacturer’s lasers despite the ads stating that it is compatible with 95% of frame-type lasers on the market. This is unfortunate, as now I have to decide between sending it back or purchaseing another laser. Kinda of in a spot now.
I went ahead and bit the bullet to purchase an atomstack machine. I had the CFO’s blessing since the Creality is now going to relocate to her office… Hopefully the new A10 will be seamless in the build and we have no issues at making it all work. Will keep updated. Thanks everyone for your help and knowledge.
