Boss has USB new tablet has USB C. Does anyone have a fix?

I have a new Surface tablet. It only has USB C and my Boss only has USB. Tried a convertor and LB still doesn’t see the laser, what can I do?

The typical advice for Mac users is to get a “Dumb” USB 2 hub and connect through that. That forces the computer to use USB 2 protocol, which is what your laser most likely uses. It might work in your situation.

Surface is a windows 11 OS. I’ve tried a Dell hub and a simple converter but no luck.

Is this a new machine or just a new computer? Did you install any necessary drivers from Boss? You don’t provide any details such as model number of Boss. I found this, don’t know if it applies to you.

I have a new computer and my laser is a LS1460. The computer has a USB C data port and my laser has a regular USB.

I use a USB to USB-C data cable with my Microsoft surface with no problems. It needs to be the DATA cable not just the charge cable.

I’ve now tried 3 different cables only to find out the Boss LS1460 has a USB to printer cable. I bought a new printer to USBC cable and lightburn was still un able to find my laser. Am I missing a driver?

Try the driver that’s included in the LightBurn installer - Run the installer again and on the last step, tick this box:

As far as I know, there aren’t any tablets supported by Lightburn. I don’t know this tablet but they usually have a different hardware architecture.

:smile_cat:

My surface works it also has an I5 processor. I wonder if she has the newest one with the snapdragon processor.

You’ve probably tried this already, but I use a USB hub to adapt my USB into my Mac’s USB-C, and I have to unplug the USB and plug it back in for Lightburn to acknowledge it. Consistently, every time. So my standard startup procedure is Open Lightburn, Power on Laser, Unplug and replug USB.

You could try right clicking Devices button instead.

My new tablet has a snapdragon processer and is not seeing my laser.

My old tablet worked until it died with lightburn. It’s the new tablet that isn’t playing nice.

Yep, I had a Dell hub for work and it still wouldn’t recognize it.

I tried copying all the device setting from my old tablet, still no love.
