So theres a new CNC software on its way.
Getting excited here.
I currently use Carveco, and the subscriptions are not great, but the software is good.
Will there be a trial available?
Will it be similar to Carveco and Vectric etc, in that you can design ?
will it be able to drive the CNC router using grbl ?
So many questions but the big one is WHEN ?
Yes indeed, MillMage is getting very close to a Release Candidate.
Yes, same trial as with LightBurn, 30-Day full-featured, only limited by time.
Yes. MillMage brings CAD, CAM, and Control functions together under a single application. Note: Direct Control is controller-dependent.
Not trying to be cheeky, but when it is ready. We typically do not provide date-certain release information, as this is software and things come up along the way. We will not release until we are confident in the release. I can offer, we are very close to the first public Release Candidate of MillMage and will announce here on forum and on socials when we do!
Great , thanks for the quick response.
NowâŚâŚ.. the waiting game
Hi. Will MillMage be support under multiple OSâs the way Lightburn is? Windows, MacOS and Linux?
Windows and MacOS. MillMage is based on 2.0 so it does not have Linux support.
I now have an answer for you. Release of our first Release Candidate for MillMage just dropped!
I will wait for the V carve before spending $199.
You can try it now for free - and the early bird pricing will be in effect for early adopters.
Most of my carving is v carve so will wait until that option to try.
Since this was not a plugin for Lightburn, how hard will it be to switch between laser and cnc?
I literally built two machines because of the frustration of trying to switch back and forth.
You can open LightBurn files in MillMage and vise-versa, and there will likely be a shared format in the future.
Are there any configuration files available for some common machines, such as the Carbide Nomad?
Historically we have never provided configuration files for machines - itâs best practice for users to go through the wizard and create their own device.
Weâre discussing changing that, but donât have any configs to provide at this time. If you have any issues with the new device wizard, let us know!
ok , so its in the machine and Im giving a try.
However I tend to do a lot of 3D CNC carving etc. There doesnât seem to be an option for that ⌠yet?
Will that be coming in the future ?
I can say that the Nomad works great on MillMage. If you need help configuring it make a post and we can help you get through it.
3D Relief and V-Carve is in the Roadmap. No current timeline.
I thought the delay was because v-carve was being implemented in the first release.
There was a chance that V-Carve would catch up, but alas. We do these things because we think they will be easy, not because they are.
Will there be classes on Millmage at the July LBX event in NY city?
Maybe you could start with a user-based approach, create a forum category where users can post their developed profiles for specific machines. No lengthy discussions, just sharing.
Next step could be a cloud-based machine âgalleryâ with upload function
There is one session for sure, Mine.
When we started planning the schedule at the beginning of the year, we werenât sure where MillMage would be progress-wise and didnât want to pack the schedule with classes on a software that wasnât close to release.
