I’ve got a 1 year old 100W Chinese laser. Here very recently it does not seem to be putting out power as expected. Settings that in the past have cut through 5mm ply just aren’t working. (20mm/s 80% power).
Won’t even cut 3mm birch ply at that setting.
Replaced all three mirrors and the lens.
I’ve checked alignment.
Checked focus.
Checked power settings in the Ruida as well as Lightburn.
Observed the LCD on the PS reading 22ma while trying to cut a test object.
My suspicion is the tube. Is there some way to test this theory before dropping BigBucks on a tube that may not be bad?
The machine functions on the basis of the power in the beam being distributed in the Gaussian distribution. When it goes through the lens if the energy is not distributed correctly - the focal point isn’t really stable. On mine I had to re-align it multiple times before my replacement tube showed up.
The lens is the most critical part of the laser… it focuses the beam to something useful, if the beam going is not correct the rest of it doesn’t work too well either.
If you can clarify what you question is with a little more direction, it might help me help you understand what you are missing…
Unfortunately there is no fix except a new tube.
Did you understand it enough to test the beam at m1?
