Consideration for initial New Project screen to use previous values

Perhaps a check box on the screen or a Settings option to have a question to saving the values of other items within MM. If a person wants to use differeing values then they would chose to open the dialog from within the app. This would be very helpful even if the dialog box opens with each iteration of MM, that the person saves time and effort by having all the previous values already loaded and the user only has to hit [Create New Project].

That would be a great option! Its quite frustrating having to change all of that every time.

If that is not possible then maybe a way to adjust the defaults?

I am not fully understanding this request. When I hit ‘New’ in the upper-left of the main UI,

I am presented with the follow, which is the ‘Project Setup’ dialog. You can create project files that do not contain art, saving a template file. Just double-click that file to open a project with the setting for that project type.

I see what you’re saying and I have tried this too. I didn’t state this as I should have - I think more folks think in terms of having pre-populated values in a dialog box vs. having to chose a file. I know I do. I suppose I find it more intuitive to click [OK] or in this case [Create New Project] then chose a file. Choosing a file is something I more readily associate with opening something I’ve worked on … to make changes more so then to use that file as a template, in effect. That’s why I called the subject “Consideration …” to consider a change.

I just did a write-up and shared internally for feedback and consideration. Further refinement discussions continue and are ongoing. Thank you for this feedback.

are you meaning something like this post

That post, along with others providing feedback, are also included in these discussions, yes.

Early on, I gave each project its own tailored setup—but with most designs ending up scrapped, it made more sense to begin with a blank template. When something’s worth keeping, I adjust the setup accordingly and save it with a new filename.

I tested using a file where I had saved the project with a 10" x 10" x 3/4" material. I had chosen inches and save it without any vectors or other design elements. When chosing that file, the design screen appears but in mm on the screen. I believe it would be helpful to have all characteristics of a save project to be passed along especailly if its forced as the only mechanism to make a “quick” link to previous settings. Also, even if leaving the project in inches, that attribute isn’t saved either when re-starting MM and the dialog appears in either advanced or non-advanced screens and, of course, please add that to the other attributes to be saved and carried forward to the next project.
