Crosshair Laser Turns Off During Framing and Stays on During Moving (AtomStack A70 Max)

Hi there,

Does anyone know the solution to this? When I frame and I have enabled my red cross hair, it turns OFF the red-dot cross hair laser. Exactly the opposite of what I want.
The thing in AtomStack Studio stays on when I click frame.

So what I found researching gcode is this:

G0 X200 Y200

Turns crosshair off

$J=G90G21 X200 Y200 F3000

Keeps crosshair on

I think I might have to request a feature called “Jog-Based Framing” as an extra option…?

Or can you guys help me otherwise?

I know this is not much help, but I seem to remember reading a Thread about this previously. Have you searched the Forum for a possible answer? If you do not know, Google does a pretty good job of indexing the Forum as well.

Try playing with these 2 settings. I have a A70 Pro which is basically the same machine. With these setting both the Laser and Cross Hairs come on when framing.

Framing

Thanks @baricl1317 !
I already tried those. I already tried resetting the machine, to no avail.

I can’t find this.

Me neither, but I did find your posting on Reddit. I misunderstood your initial text.

You showed both enable buttons checked. I am pretty sure if they are checked, it is meant to use the laser instead of the pointer for framing. It does not make sense to have both on at the same time, they both can’t be right. The Pointer Offset is the physical difference between them.

It doesn’t matter if both the laser and the cross hairs are visible during framing. If you have the Laser Offset enabled and configured correctly you would use the Cross Hairs as your guide when framing. If you don’t have the Laser Offset enabled then you use the Laser Beam as your guide when framing.

I know, but he wants both on at the same time with his machine. If I can see the blue light, I see no need for a red one too.

I disagree. The blue light is much harder to position correctly then a red cross hair.
It actually is a cross!

Can you maybe give a dump of all your $$ settings? Maybe it is in there somewhere?

According to what I have read, unchecking those two radio buttons for “laser on while framing” should enable the pointer when framing. If yours does not do that, I do not know why.

A dump of my settings wouldn’t help because when i frame the laser beam and the cross hairs both come on. Try turning off “Laser on When Framing”. If you do that do you see the cross hairs when framing. Do the cross hairs ever come on

That’s still better than no crosshair at all… And by comparing settings I might get a clue, at least if it is in those settings at all.

How do you do this? Not sure where the switch is located.

Its in Edit > Device Settings at the top of the page. To turn on Laser Offset. I don’t think you can really enable or disable the cross hair. Only enable or disable the Laser Offset to configure and use it

Strangely enuff, my eyes, or brain, is more receptive to blue light than red.

That implies the control is in the laser controller board then. Maybe contact Atomstack directly would help?

I have a sneaking suspicion this might be electronic, like a plug in the wrong place or inserted backwards. Just a thought.

No… In AtomStack Studio everything works fine.

I don’t do this, actually not a good choice of words there.
It’s already on at the start. But as soon as the framing sequence starts it turns off.

Trying that to no avail. They are not paying attention to what I say in my emails and end-up in a loop (Asking me to do things I already did).

That happens here too. We ask questions in a sequence based on our troubleshooting plan or direction.
