Cutting acrylic with a 5W laser

Hola, soy de chile. Alguien me puede ayudar, tengo una diy kit de 5 watts y no me graba metal ni me corta acrílico, debo cambiar la cabeza por una de 10 o 20 watts para lograr eso.

Hello, I’m from Chile. Can someone help me, I have a 5 watt diy kit and it doesn’t engrave metal or cut acrylic, I have to change the head for a 10 or 20 watt one to achieve that.

I’ve moved your post to its own thread to help improve visibility and reduce confusion.

If the laser is blue and the acrylic is clear the laser won’t cut the material.

The CO2 lasers have a long Infrared wavelength that is absorbed by clear acrylic allowing it to be cut.

Another common setback is commanding a fast cutting speed that does not put enough energy into the material. This can be caused by unique differences in materials, optimistic information from marketing departments or incorrectly selecting the units of motion. 10 mm/s is 60 times faster than 10mm/min.

Metal cutting is a nope, and engraving only stainless steel might be possible with your machine.

cutting of acrylic with a blue diode laser is dependent upon the color of dyes used. some colors like black and red will cut, but clear and white will not.
