I updated my Lightburn and now if I move my laser at all it pops up immediately with this-
MPos:0.000000,3.170000,0.000000,0.000000
err:limitCheck
ALARM:1
Hard limit triggered. Machine position is likely lost due to sudden and immediate halt. Re-homing is highly recommended.
ok
[MSG:Pgm End]
I went through the rehoming process and tried to move the laser and immediately the alarm goes off. Does this have something to do with the last update. I was running fine and all of a sudden I can’t even move the laser one button push or start to frame something.
Yes, everything is attached and moving. It’s something to do with the feedback from the machine. Could this be because I updated Lightburn and now the firmware on the xTool is incompatible?
I’m a mechanical engineer by trade and I’ve been running all types of computer operated machinery since I was on nuclear subs at the age of 18. So, I went through and check all the stops to make sure nothing got broke. Beside that I never get close to the stops with the extension rails installed. Yes, I’ve ran it extensively since installation. I went tough and check firmware, software and reset the xTool itself. I logged on today, updated Lightburn and boom won’t go anywhere…
It lends me to believe it’s something between Lightburn and the firmware on the xTool. I followed the link you posted but that is kind of vague and GRBL/GCode I’ve never done so, I’m not sure where to go from here…
I had an “04” issue with my S30 Pro. Rolling back to “03” did not fix it. I don’t think I have read any postings where the 03 rollback worked. Mine was Absolute Coordinates got switched to Current Position (or User Origin).
Take an intense look at all your settings and you might find the culprit.
I’m so green at this, it’s been a long time since I did programming. Kind of funny really. I used to do consulting on prototypes and did coding!!! Different type of machines though…
That should be your choice. If you are new working with coodinate systems, it is best to stick with Absolute for a while. Unexpected things can happen when working with the other methods.
For those with same/similar issues, we cannot say what to check because we do not know what your normal settings are. I wish I could say “Fix the whatsit” and you are ready to go. Maybe we should do a settings backup before any update. I am as guilty as anyone for not making backups before allowing changes to my system.
I check the firm ware and all the software. They came out with an update now I can jog the y axis but not the x axis. I’m running mine in “current position” and line things up by hand, old habit. I’m putting another screen shot of the machine output when it happens. Doesn’t make sense though, I went through and set home again when I turned on the machine. (checked Firmware, Software) It doesn’t alarm - I then try to jog it from there and I can go all the way across and back with the left and right jog, that’s “y” or the “x”??? Once I try to go the length of the machine or towards the front it immediately alarms.
It started this after I updated the software three days ago. Should I reset to default settings? I literally turned everything on it said there was an updated, I did it and has never worked since then. The funny thing is haven’t changed a whole lot in Lightburn. I’ve been running the machine for almost a year and a half with no problems, other than getting burn settings.
