Degree symbol for text?

Windows 11 and version 1.5.01 Lightburn
EDIT: Using Arial font

Alt+0176 doesn’t get me a degree symbol ° in text. It gets me this popup.

I recently found an alternative but my stellar filing system ate it!
My current solution is to use Word and a “copy and insert” for the text. I’d much rather use an ASCI command.

Anyone have the “magic decoder ring” for this?

Two workarounds here:—

Accessing Alt-codes in Character Set (but not found on keyboard)? - LightBurn Software Questions - LightBurn Software Forum

One uses LB’s own text editor & the other the Windows Emoji tool.
I wasn’t aware of the Emoji thing, & it took a few goes to see how it works. Click on the Omega sign to access the Character Map, then click on your chosen symbol, then close the Emoji window to insert the symbol.
The Emoji wotsit works in the LB text box editor too.

Character map copy/paste works fine but confirm you’re selecting the correct font (or at least one that has an approximately correct looking character). Not all fonts have all characters. Some have mismatches. Some have altered specials. Some have wingdings or flourishes or restricted/paid. Etc. System fonts are usually good to go, but downloaded fonts are a grab bag.

@cggorman I edited my query here and added that I am using Arial font.

I think you can disable the shortcut.
If you open dropdown menu “File” and open “Edit Hotkeys” you will find a column called categories, select Laser Tools Menu. Look for the item “Start Wizard” and click on it.
Clear the shortcut and click OK.

I am on a Mac at the moment so I couldn’t test it but I’m pretty sure it will work.

Bingo! Prize winner!
Did the magic . . . . .

Thanks for the detailed reply, very much appreciated.

It was the Alt 0 that was getting in the way and ignoring the rest of the ASCI identifier.
