Drag and Drop not workling in win 10

Yes I can import just so much easier to drag rather then navigating in two different windows.

What version of windows/ light burn?

Might be a good time to reinstall some things,

FTR can’t do it on my win11 machine either

That’s unexpected.

Is it only certain folders where this is a problem? Can you try on folders from different drives? Also try from something in your Documents folder.

I did this on W11 with 1.3.02 beta but I’ve never had an issue dragging and dropping unless it was from an archive or other temporary storage system.

Do you possibly have realtime compression or encryption on the drive?

Here I show what I see.

In the screenshot you shared, I note "protable Hardirve:

Is this a pluggable USB Drive? @berainlb and @JohnJohn are asking similar, and are wanting to see if you experience this same issue when trying to Drag from a local storage device.

yes it is and was the last drive I tested, no active compression on any of my drives. tried docs, desktop, both primary and secondary partitions and removable hdd.

this works fine on my win11 laptop, just something funky in win10 this box.

if I uninstall/reinstall will it blast all my configs or can I export all?

If you are asking about LightBurn, yes. You can export and save the preference settings to another location, under, ‘File’–>‘Export Prefs’.

This is interesting. We are investigating further.

TYVM! I appreciate it! If you would like, I can get your tech guys in with teams

Try this:

  • Run LightBurn
  • Click Help > Enable Debug Log
  • Drag your file over LightBurn until the cursor changes
  • Quit LightBurn

In your Documents folder you should find a file called LightBurnLog.txt. Attach that here so we can take a look.

Could we visit this on a voice call?

-phone number redacted-

I’m sorry but we don’t do phone support. The logging I requested will tell me exactly what formats your computer believes you are dragging into the LightBurn view and will hopefully give some insight. I’m not sure how a voice call where I can’t see anything is going to help much.

This is not something we offer, and this is an explanation of why.

LightBurnLog.txt (3.4 KB)

I will give you access to my Teams info and you can log into my box

I get it! Just glad your not sending phone support overseas

LightBurnLog.txt (429 Bytes)

This one has a couple lines from the drag process, the other was during a cut.

I know I tried more than 10 times but the log only captured 4.

Uninstalled and reinstalled and no luck except the debug changed to

It looks like your computer isn’t telling LightBurn that there’s anything to drop.

Under the hood, we ask the “drag” event what formats are attached to it, and if it’s something we recognize, it’s allowed. Yours doesn’t have anything associated with it, and I’m not sure how that’s possible.

Try this:

  • Run Notepad
  • Drag the LightBurnLog.txt file onto Notepad and let it go

Does that work? If it doesn’t, the problem is something with how your computer is configured.

It works in notepad and all the other imaging products I use
