Dual Y stepper motor for Ortur LM2 upgrade

I want to upgrade my Ortur LM2 to have two Y stepper motors. One on each end of the gantry. Here is my question. Do need to continue using the connecting rod that now connects the the two end of the gantry mechanically or can I just put a drive pully on the second laser and remove the conecing bar???

Ruida RDC 6445G with double drive for the Y-axis

Hello everyone, We are currently building a laser that needs a double drive for the Y-axis (portal). As it is over 2500mm wide. We have 1 stepper motor and 1 spindle per side. Our problem at the moment is, and I can’t find a solution, so I’m asking here, maybe someone has already implemented this.
