DXF Files Appearing Invisible

Hi all,

I am stumped with a reoccurring issue that a few people have.

Auto cad DXF files appear invisible on the Light burn software.

Here is our checklist that has supplied no positive outcome:

  • Export as an earlier file version
  • Check all lines are closed
  • Tick all output boxes to visible
  • Try AI to export as a DXF
  • Zoom to frame selection
  • Check if work appears off of workspace
  • Export and save a new version on a USB and try opening it again

Any ideas?

Is it possible the Autocad DXF color maps into something like LightBurn’s C08, making the light-gray shape impossible (for me, anyway) to distinguish from the lighter-gray workspace background?

A quick check would be Ctrl-A to select All The Things, then Ctrl-Shift-A to zoom them to fill the screen. If you can see the handles around the bounding box of All The Things, then hit the C00 button to paint them black and make them visible.

If there’s nothing to be selected (so they’re not being imported at all), then perhaps they are colored to match a Tool layer with Allow importing to tool layers turned Off.

Is this a binary DXF or an ASCII DXF? I have a feeling that LB won’t import the binary version. Check and let us know.

Good catch:

Didn’t the native binary have a different file extension (DWG)?

The native DWG is always binary, but DXF can be binary or ASCII.
