Engrave quality and uniform results

Looking for some advice - I was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if Lightburn has an easy fix (other than cross-hatching it - which is the only option Ive got working).

Over the last few days, I’ve been engraving some fine fonts/lines and depending on the direction of the laser its simply not scoring the wood in a uniform way. One way to fix it is by cross-hatching it, but this always seems to take longer than I would like.

I’ve tried lowering the speed or increasing the DPI but this always affects the whole area, so while I might get some finer lines more visible, the rest of the engraving becomes very dark/deep.

Anyway, I hope this makes some kinda sense! any tips/advice would be appreciated.

I think it is the fiber structure of the wood, better said, the orientation of the fibers. If you rotate your piece of wood, the effect should follow if I am right with my statement.
