I was doing a test the other day to engrave some 3mm basswood to a specific depth. I did a circle, ran the test, moved the head and changed the settings and ran it till I tried to get it right. But it seemed that the settings I changed did not carry over to the new test circle. Is there a problem doing it this way, or should I have created separate layers for each test circle
Hi Alan
Did you stop > and start the process again?
On the fly changes to the layer settings while a job is running - will not send the changes.
Hi, many thanks for the reply. If you mean did I select ‘New’ each time, no I didn’t. I was hoping that each time the setting was changed on the layer, it would ‘take’ the new setting. Is there a way, or is it on the wishlist some where to somehow flush the existing setting and Lightburn see the changed setting?
Lets make SURE we talking on the same thing
If the laser is not running - and you make changes to the layers - > then click Start. they must apply
if the laser IS running, and you make changes to the layers, they will not.
So if you are doing alterations to your settings, and starting the engraving over, there should be changes for sure.
What I think might be happening, but I am just guessing is, you are in mm/sec and the laser is going at its max speed regardless?
Could you post a couple screenshots?
What I do is create a burn, let it run to completion, change the settings and click Start again, and it seems to retain the settings from the previous burn. Something in the back of my mind seems to remember someone saying that you have to start NEW and not Import each time if you want to flush the old settings from a burn. Is this correct for Lightburn or what it from somewhere else?
This is not expected behaviour.
Can you share a screenshot of your settings and what laser you have?
I am using an Xtool S1, I don’t have the settings as this was a few days ago. I got to the point where it would cut through the material, and then increased the speed on subsequent burns, hopefully until I got the result I wanted.
Are you using 1.7 beta?
Make sure you are please
Thank you, I will get it installed…
