Engraving Paths

Is this completely unheard of?

Imagine I have a rectangle, 24" long by 6" wide and the engraving area is only half inch all the way around.

Is there a setting to have the laser run the bottom first, up one side, across the top, and down the last side? In a clockwise type pattern

I hope this makes sense - having the laser head travel 2 feet for just a .5" engraving is a ton of unwanted time.

Thank you!

You mean it’s like a picture frame and you have a lot of travel time scanning one edge to the other?

You could do the fours sides as 4 layers or groups.
I can’t see anything in optimisation but I could be wrong.

edit: In layer settings you can change the scan direction so that it only travels the 6" gap not the 24"

This is precisely what Flood Fill was designed for. Don’t use it for really complex paths, because it starts to get really messy, but for a simple outline it’s perfect.

You can also split the frame using the new Cut Shapes feature, or the boolean tools:

Oh, flood fill!

I never spotted that button before!
Yet another cool function for just a single mouse click. Nice one.
