Error:7 EEPROM read failed. Reset and restored to default value

Hello,

I have an Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro. OLF: 170. The laser had been running fine when I used it last. The machine homes when turned on and when prompted in the program. The laser will not travel on the X axis when framing or starting a job from the Job Origin. If I manually move the laser, it will run the job but will not do each cut or layers where they should be. The laser does not return home after the job is complete when manually moving it before starting a job. I have gone through the forums and have tried everything that I have come across under the Error:7 EEPROM read failed. Reset and restored to default values topics with no luck.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Does the machine work correctly if you use Absolute Coords?

Also, when you say you’re manually moving the laser, do you mean by hand or using jogging controls? I suggest you never move the laser head by hand after homing.

Incidentally, you’re running a very old version of firmware. I suggest you upgrade as there have been a good number of fixes since your version. None that should directly affect your current issue but I could see happening.

Ortur – Firmware Repository – Ortur

Thank you so much for your reply and assistance. I updated the firmware. I am still having the same issues. The machine does not run correctly in Absolute Coords, Current Position or User Origin. I moved the laser head while it was powered off to see if it would run from another starting point besides home at the bottom left. It ran but did not cut each line centered. I didn’t realize that should not be done. The laser head will not move to the right on the x axis using the jogging control. It will move freely back and forth on the y axis using the controls.

Any other suggestions?
Thank you.

I want to make sure I absolutely understand the current state of the machine.

Please confirm or correct the following assertions:

  1. Your machine is homing correctly. Meaning if you have the laser head in the middle of the frame that it will move accordingly to bottom-left of machine when powered on.
  2. After homing, you cannot using jogging controls in Move window to move right. You don’t mention what happens when you push left. Up down controls work and work in the correct direction. Do you hear any noise or see any motion at all when attempting to move left and right?
  3. Any framing or attempt at running a job results in motion in Y but not in X.

The machine will home correctly every time it is powered on. It will home to the bottom left of the frame if the laser head is in the middle of the frame when powered on.

After homing and using the jogging controls in the Move window, the laser head will move back and forth along the Y using the arrow keys. It will also move to the left with the arrow key. When attempting to move it to the right using the arrow key, it will try with the same movement and noise as usual, but it does not actually move.

After homing, with any attempts to frame or run a job, the laser head does only will travel back and forth on the Y. The laser head does not move right. It runs as if it completed the job without traveling on the X.

Thank you.

Look carefully at the stepper motor while trying to jog right. Do you see the motor actually spinning? If so, following the motion from motor to pinion to belt, etc. At what point is it not moving?

Thank you so much for your suggestion of checking the stepper motor. The set screws were loose. My machine is back up and running again. I am grateful for your time and assistance.
