that’s where it’ll land. Don’t forget to turn off the logging tool when you’ve captured the crash. You would also be well served to move or rename the log file after it’s created or further logging will be appended to the file.
I don’t have a Ruida online here yet so I can’t confirm this behavior.
The Log file should be sufficient.
I’ve done more jobs and haven’t had any crashes. There’s two issues covered in this topic. The solutions are:
Don’t put any work within 5mm of the work area edge. Over swing of the laser head causes axis limit errors. This is the most common error on the Polar. I don’t get the error if I leave at least 3mm at the edge, YMMV.
The second issue is likely due to a memory issue or possibly corrupt files in the controller memory. In LightBurn go to Window → File List. Then the File List tab will pop up. Click “Delete all files” and that will clear the controller’s memory. There won’t be anything in the list unless you refresh it first.
It seems when LightBurn crashes it’s because it doesn’t get a response from the laser. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to get any kind of log to work, or any new crashes for that matter. If I can recreate a crash and get a log file, I will share it here.
I use Start. Send does weird things. Which is extra weird because Start sends to the controller anyway.
I have 3 21MB files and 1 25MB file on my controller. I haven’t had a crash yet, but if I do, I’ll let you know. I’m wondering if I need to set off the axis limit error to get the other error to crash LightBurn.
I’m not sure at what point it actually crashed, so it’s even less helpful. I switched to rotary on the laser (didn’t change in lightburn yet). The controller said reset laser ESC. I pressed ESC. Then LB was unresponsive.
If you’re willing (and if the file isn’t too huge) please post it here or send to me directly. If it is huge, Google Drive is a great option. I’ll cut it back if necessary and send it to the devs.
When you say crash do you mean freeze/hang, Close without warning or Crash with an operating system error?
