LightBurn Bug Report: Galvo Cut Settings Window Cut Off (Windows)
I am experiencing a critical UI issue where the “Cut Settings Editor” window for my Galvo laser profile (Gweike G2 Max) is cut off at the bottom and cannot be vertically resized or moved, making the OK/Cancel buttons inaccessible.
Problem Details
Affected Device: Galvo Laser (Gweike G2 Max profile).
Affected Window: Cut Settings Editor (when editing a layer).
Operating System: Windows 10/11.
Windows Display Scale:150% (This display scaling setting appears to trigger the bug).
Observed Behavior: The Galvo UI version of the window is significantly longer than the Diode/Generic version, causing it to extend below the screen boundary.
Version History
This issue is directly related to the LightBurn version:
Working Version: The feature works correctly on LightBurn v1.7.08.
Non-Working Versions: The bug appears in versions v2.0.01 and later (including the latest Pro version). This suggests a regression in the UI code for Galvo devices in these newer versions.
Troubleshooting Attempted
Switched Windows scaling from a custom value (135%) to the standard 150%.
Cleared/deleted the prefs and LightBurn.ini files.
Applied the “Override high DPI scaling behavior” setting in Windows compatibility properties, choosing “System”.
Uninstalled and reinstalled the application.
The problem persists only when the Galvo device is selected and the Windows display is set to 150% scaling, for GRBL laser works fine!
There is a known issue with this in version 2.0 and up. The Dev team is working on a fix but it hasn’t been released yet. In the mean time use the enter key on your keyboard for ok and esc key for cancel.
A lot of changes were made in the version 2.0! including the switch to QT6, the development framework we use.
QT is also providing the UI elements, and the switch has introduced display issues on lower resolutions.
We have a PreRelease candidate for an upcoming version of LightBurn that we believe may fix your issue.
It will install on your system as a separate “PreRelease” version of LightBurn, which has its own set of preferences. This means it will not affect your standard installation of LightBurn at all, but it will also not have any personal customizations applied as in your current installation.
The installer should automatically ask if you want to import a copy of your standard release version preferences - you can also use the User Bundles feature to move over your preferences at any time later, if you choose.
