Galvo focus meter/DRO thingy, cloudray GM Neo

Anyone know what this DRO is on Cloudray GM Neo ?
Is it something custom to cloudray or something off the shelf i could buy and fit to my 100w mopa ?
The CR GM Neo is 2.5d machine, mine is handcrank, but this kind of DRO would simplify things on any machine.

Reached out to Cloudray, but yet to receive a reply about if they would sell the part separately, as its not listed among parts/accessories they sell on their website.

Pic below a cropped screenshot of one of youtube videos showing it.
It does have some sort of ranging sensor in that wee box, not only the display.

Quite sure, that’s an off the shelf component and not custom to Cloudray.

It reminds me of this one, used by ComMarker in the Omni-X

BL-200Z-485

Cant seem to find anything with this designation.

Stumbled upon BOJKE laser displacement sensors, but not cheap…

That’s the one, by the looks of it.

Yes, they are over USD 500 on Amazon!

Aaaand here come the “nope”…. dang it… way over budget… still waiting for cloudray to respond.

Any other ways to implement cheap ABSOLUTE dro (to bottom plate) in this case ?

30-40 quid buys a 500mm digital vernier style slide scale with digital head, but not sure about “absolute” part, as impossible to measure and calibrate to the plate and i’d need to reset it every time i switch the machine on. Which defeats the purpose of it all…

jeah, that’s a bit steep.
I’ve seen similar digital vernier scales, but never tried any of those.

As you know, LightBurn only started supporting Z-Axes on a galvo recently. So far, I haven’t looked into autofocussing a galvo.

So please let us know if you have any insights or have questions!
