When watching different Youtube videos, people have recommended not to use the CAD software to control the machine even if they could talk to the CNC. Its recommended by them to use something like Gsender or other Gcode-communication s/w.
I’m unsure why that it is. Do you recommended the same?
Thanks,
Tim
That’s not really correct. You can use any gcode Sender you like. If the CAD tool supplies one and you are satisfied - just use it.
Select the tools that work best for your workflow. Millmage is a gcode Sender as well, combined with the editing functions we know from LightBurn. That should be fine for most use cases but there are many great tools out there.
Seeing or hearing something in a video without an explanation why should raise a red flag. You would have no idea knowing if it applies to your situation or not.
i have been using MM directly to my cnc via wifi and not had any issues , actually luv that i can open/edit a file, set tool paths and than click start all from one screen, not having to save file than reopen another system to run job
I went from routing to laser. The most impressive part of Lightburn was making changes on the fly. Having to go back make changes, generate gcode, rename or make another file got very confusing.
But the real reason I bought Lightburn was for the CAD.
Desighn software is to intimidating for me.
I used Carbide create for CAM, but their CAD was to crude to do anything more the basic shapes, and Inkscape is way to much for me.
This sounds like a three bears story as Lightburn was just right on it’s CAD learning curve compared to desighn capabilities.
