Getting To Know You All

The way I do it is, I focus (raise my work table) until the little red dot just hits the corner. I stopped double-checking if it fit, because it always did.

(Unfortunately, it is not so clear in the pictures, but believe me, it is very easy to see and decide whether it hits the corner exactly.)

Exceptions are of course items that cannot fit into my X-Y zero point, here I use the good old original distance block from OMT.
PS it is not necessary to readjust my red laser pointer for a very long time, i.e. it is mounted reasonably statically.

I guess I don’t follow how this ensures focus…?

Hard to tell, but is the nozzle going to print where the led is?

:smile_cat:

Correct, the angle of the red laser diode is set to hit the focus point perfectly. If the focus is in plus or minus, the laser pointer hits somewhere else.

1st posting here, and thank you for this resource ( I was studying resources for 2.5d engraving, and my search led me here). I have been making lightsabers for hobbyists, collectors and cosplayers for quite a few years, and bought a 50 jpt fiber for shop use, along with a paint station for Cerakote applications to compliment the laser work , as acid etching and powdercoat has been the go to in my hobby. Here are a few finished projects, and thank you again
