Gweike G2 rotary won’t turn while engraving

Progress! The rotary now turns on the x axis while engraving but not on the Y. Instead of a circle it is an oval but we have progress!!

Ok, that was the clue I needed - When you choose the Y axis I’m sending a command that tells it to move the 2nd motor, but there isn’t one. The “motor index” should be another value you can choose, not tied to the axis you have the rotary on. Fixing this now.

Ok, new betas are posting now and this should be fixed.

that worked perfectly to fix the Y axis!!! Thank you!

Now I have the issue of compressed engravings.

I have to multiply my width X pi to get the correct layout as seen in the black text. In this example Black engraved like the blue layout. In Y axis i have to multiply the height. What could be causing this issue?

I am using the correct steps for this rotary of 3200. Im sure i have this messed up in the settings but im not confident messing with the configuration settings.

Are the “Object Diameter” and focus height correct?

When you hit the Test button in the Rotary Setup window, it should rotate a full 360 degrees and back.

Here are my settings for a G2 “Pro”. Notice, i need Galvo 1 as X Axis. Is your output mirrored?

Yup, I even put a mark on the chuck to double check and it’s on the nuts at 3200. When I first got my g2 it was set to galvo 1 but was mirrored. That’s odd that mine runs 2 and yours is 1…

This is odd. I’ve used the .cfg file from this link. It’s the same zip file for the G2 AND G2 Pro: https://api.gweikecloud.com/static/service/JP--G2windows0522_jwk_0530.zip

Can you measure your engraved dimensions without using the rotary first?
Are they correct?

You can also try the “Laser Tools > Calibrate Galvo Lens” wizard.

I’ve seen this and I wonder if other options are selected, such as negate.

I would think it would be difficult to physically wire them up incorrectly (reversed).

:smile_cat:

Your object diameter is 283mm? That’s almost a foot wide - what are you engraving?

I ask because I doubt that would fit, and I suspect you entered the circumference instead.

It’s a big old water jug. Like 74 oz or something. It’s huge. But same results off of the 13 mm flashlight I tried

I just enter everything like I do in xtools. It would make sense I suppose. I’ll check it out when I get home and report back

I’ll get that stuff when I get home. I use different laptops for work and play. It’s weird you are on galvo 1 with no reverse and I’m on galvo 2 with no reverse. When I first got mine it was set to 1 and was mirrored and I think sideways maybe I can’t really remember.
