I’ve poked around but I’m having some real trouble with getting my head around some basics. I’ve been using the software for about a year without homing, and love it, but finally plugged in my endstops and it’s kinda gone to hell.
The x axis is fine, but the y axis is working fine mechanically and going in all the right directions, homing properly etc, but lightburn is now showing it as out of bounds, like this:
I know this if more about my machine settings than about Lightburn, but hoping I can get a little help. my X axis homes to the left, and the Y axis homes to the top, so ‘home’ is 0, 300, and my settings look like this:
I’m sure I’ve missed something really basic, but have played around with the Y stepped direction, and pin invert but not really had any luck and have got to the end of my available brains for the day. Really hoping some kind soul can point out where I’m going wrong and nudge me in the right direction
Why is your $100=395 $101=395 where did you grab those values?
At the end of this webpage 2nd column Sculpfun default GRBL settings and also specific models, grab your and change accordingly
Your settings are all kind of jacked up. This doesn’t make any sense; In the Lightburn work screen it shows machine origin as lower left, which is where it should be, but in Device settings, it’s upper left. Did you change it in device settings after taking the first screenshot?
You have your S-Value max at 10,000, it shold be 1,000 to match $30.
Your working size in Device settings doesn’t match the machine size set in Machine settings.
Like Parsec pointed out, $100 & $101 are incorrect.
There are more errors.
Go through the settings in his link and make the changes.
My steps etc are fine, the only problem I’m having is the one I wrote about with the homing not translating to the lightburn software, 100 and 101 are definitely correct. Because of the way I have oriented my machine the limit switches is at the top of the y, and axes, and the left of the x axis which is resulting in the incorrect display in the software.
You mention other errors, could you expand on any that relate to the homing position?
As forum rules, you should be cordial to other people, especially those who are trying to help you.
However, I’m glad that your laser is working as you want it to and that you’ve managed to find and correct very simple things like the Max travel distance on your own.
.
You could have used the energy spent on that ruder speech to initially provide more complete information about what you had done.
When you have more issues we are here to help, next time explain it better.
yeah, I edited it because you’re right, it was rude. But as you’ve decided to post it anyway …
I was asking for help because I’d had a @#$E%^^ day and I’d reached the end of my ability, sure we’ve all been there. You’ll see I’ve been using it fine for over a year and have just added the endstops, and am having trouble with the orientation. Your reply is irrelevant to either of those and it’s straight-up rude to post a link to generic docco in that situation. In almost any situation really, if we couldn’t use google we wouldn’t have gotten here first. And commenting about my steps per mm being wrong is just weird, like where did that even come from? Do you know the motors I’m using, the kinematics, anything? there is no conceivable way to tell someone their steps per mm are off without them mentioning a problem with dimensions. Considering that those are the major points, and that they are in the post with all of my relevant settings, what extra information are you expecting me to write? Next time, if you don’t have the information to answer a question, just don’t answer it.
Honestly, it’s people like you 2 with your self-assumed authority and desperate need to say something that make forums like this useless at best, and just horrible places to be most of the time. Once in a while you luck out and find someone who is actually trying to help and not rub their ego, but looks like I’ve been out of luck this time. Lightburn is a great product, love it and I’ll keep paying for it, but I ain’t coming back here again, you 2 suck.
