I have a foxalien CNC/Laser Masuter Pro that i used both for mill/cutting and laser/engraving with a diode 20w laser. I didn’t use my laser module for a while, about 6/7 months until today when i try to laser cutting some nutcracker for my nephew to play.
After i reinstall the machine in lightburn and configure it i start the cutting process but with my surprise the laser cannot properly cut a 2mm thick sheet at a 280 mm/min at 80% of power as you can see in the photo attached.
I know for sure that laser can cut that material because the last time i used in march i made some test on the same exact material e you can see the results here.
So i try some more test and apparently i had some issues with the correct power (or any other regulation) of my laser because even with this other sheet of 3mm birch i had totally different results. In the first photo, made on last march, i can cut the wood, in the second one insteda, made today, i never be able to cut a single square. Actually i cut the one on the left, with 6, yes SIX, pass!!
For laser machines I am only familiar with two values 255 (if memory serves me right) and 1000. Beyond that I unfortunately can’t help much more at the moment.
Besides, there is another thing i don’t understand.
As you can see in the configuration i enable the laser when i’m framing with a 0.01% power.
Well when i start to frame or simply if i enable laser to set the zero work, the laser should only be visible and not engraving right??
Look closely at the nutcracker picture, you can clearly see the xy movement engraved on the wood!! why the laser engrave (0,01% of power) and not cut properly??
