This has more to do with your machine than software
a) confirm you have your Xtool configured with GRBL and not GRBL M3
b) Type $$ in console and send the full output here
c) Does this happen on ALL projects?
Yes it happens on all projects.

Hi Gil, Thanks again for responding so quickly. I now have a different problem, of my own making I am sure. I re-added the machine as a grbl, usb, with a bed size of 430 x 850. Now it homes ok, frames as it should, but when I try to run any project it starts the fan on the laser module for a second, goes quiet, then starts the fan again after a few seconds, but does not move. This messaging system will not let me post the console read-out, it says new users can only post 1 link?
- make sure you are using the CORRECt power adapter
- post to my private messages the output of console
- make sure you are in absolute coordinates

Post a full image of your light burn with your layers panel and Laser panel in view, as well as your project. might be easier
