How do I engrave text from a jpg?

It may be not be popularly known but PDF files are a mixture of text and vectors. I import them regularly into Inkscape, copy the vectors into a separate file and then save as an SVG, which I then use with Lightburn and Carveco for my CNC.

Don’t forget that they can also include raster images and 3D solid models in addition to the text and vector graphics you mention.

Marcus, thank you for correcting my omission. I should have remembered because I am currently using PDF’s for making toy wooden vehicles as xmas presents for young children, and they contain lots of raster images.

If that weren’t enough, PDF (and SVG) files can include JavaScript for various (occasionally nefarious) purposes.
