This error occurs when the home command is sent to the device, but the configuration of the device says it doesn’t exist…

The configuration is the $

Do you have home switches?

Try changing this in the device settings… to disabled, like mine. Lightburn will send a home command when it connects if this is selected.

These variables tell the controller how to do certain things and what’s available.

These are probably already setup for your machine and shouldn’t be modified.

:smile_cat:

yes it normally homes this is my settings

You changed the settings…

Did you make a backup before you changed anything?

The first group showed that the controller wasn’t configured to home, then it changed…

What is going on to change these?

How about some history about what happened… and how you ended up here…

:smile_cat:

hi mate thanks for reply

i turned it on and the message Homing cycle is not enabled in your Grbl settings. came up prior to this i have not done nothing i assumed everything would be fine the only settings i changed were ones trying to get it back working i had my settings perfect to how everything is set up i dont know much about these machines so really wouldn’t change anything unless im told to by LB

Is this a new machine? First time with Lightburn?

You should not have to change any settings with a new machine.

I can’t follow what you did, because it’s only the response from the controller.

So I’m pretty clueless about how to get you back up on your feet.

If you would have disabled homing in Lightburn, it probably would have worked. Never change configuration data, unless you know exactly what you are doing…

It doesn’t sound like it homes…

ALARM:8

Homing fail. Cycle failed to clear limit switch when pulling off. Try increasing pull-off setting or check wiring.

During a home operation, the machine goes to it’s home location and activates a switch… when that happens the machine backs off an amount specified in the configuration ($27) then moves back to the switch at a much slower speed for more accuracy. It’s advising it can’t back off the switch… Did you change $27?

Can you physically locate the home switches on the machine.

How about a link to the machine…?

:smile_cat:

this is a link to machine

ORTUR Laser Master 2 Pro S2 LU2-4-SF 5500mw Laser Engraver Engraving Machine DIY | eBay

it has home switches and this isnt my first time using lightburn or this machine i have only just recently on the 10th of this month ran out of premium sub with lightburn so i have been using it for over a year everything has been fine up until today i promise you i turned the machine on it displayed that message

i then used back up feature it didnt work lb on google told me to load up a file called LBSET that didnt work i tried using my $$ settings i have saved

no one has access to my pc or machine no one could mess around with settings apart from me i was running jobs on it the last time i used it not had a issue until that message was displayed

From what I can tell it has a $RST=* that will help…

Next time, put this in the Ortur laser section and you’ll probably get more help…

I’d try enter the reset and see what happens…

:smile_cat:

please see short video of the machine homing when turned on

are the settings with my log in because i have expired would i be restricted ?

You can download updates as long as you are subscribed… if you stop paying, you can still use that version for life, but can’t get a newer version.

Should not be an issue.

No, it is something … you got a different error message… that’s usually good.

Lets try calling for help from @OrturTech and see if Gil will drop in and advise.
It looks to be homing in the video, but it can’t complete the home operation.

In this case it’s not sensing the switches within a specified distance.

It looked like it was homing fine… so I’m a bit confused.

ok i see

not sure if this makes any odds but i can no longer see my library and my saved positions they seem to be empty ?

i really appreciate it really dont know how it has changed i have tried loading up the LBDEV file that i used before that has all my settings on but still says the same thing

One of the problems you might have
in fact 2 fold
a) you have extension but you probably didnt extend your GRBL
inconsole type $131=800
perss enter
b) tighten your belts on Y a bit further
can you reshot the homing cycle shooting OVER the Y axis swithc?
