As per the title really. I bought a camera, my OS (Linux) sees it and can use it, but how do I get Lightburn to use it? Is there a setting somewhere I’m missing?
Lens Calibration window looks like this,
Edit > Settings > Camera looks like this,
Camera Control window looks like this
Am I missing a ‘Use the Camera’ setting somewhere?
Ver. 1.7.04 on Linux Mint 22.1
If your camera is listed in the LightBurn camera menu, you should be able to create a profile for this camera. If it is not listed in LB, I would recommend searching the forum for “camera+Linux/distro”, which will pop up many posts that will hopefully help you further.
The help section in LB also covers some of your questions.
My personal experience with Linux and LightBurn+camera is that I couldn’t get it to work under Mint and that “forced” me to switch to Ubuntu. But like with many other things, it depends on many factors and there are people here who could get it to work with Mint.
If you stick to LB’s own recommendations, which Distros are supported, you have the best chance, in my opinion.
Well it is listed, as you can see from my screenshots. How do I create a profile?
Try to see if it can help you, Camera not working in LightBurn 1.7.03 and Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS
it’s the last posts that are extra interesting.
App Image, that’s interesting…
And there we have it! (The camera’s on my desk looking at me just now.
Thanks.
I am very happy that your camera is now working. For me personally, the camera function is one of the most practical and used features in LightBurn. I hope that when you fine-tune your system, you may also be able to achieve a reproducible result of less than 0.5mm across your entire workbench/machine area.
