Importing Machine settings from laptop to desktop

I tend to model on the desktop then save files to my server and open in the shop on the laptop.
My laptop/control cpu settings were read from my machine. They appear to be accurate as far as estimated time in the preview and the actual time.
But when modeling on the desktop I can see it is nowhere near the actual time. (example: Desktop 1:23min → actual more like 35-45 min.
This gets discouraging when looking to lower the burn time on desktop modeling. When really it wasn’t to bad in the first place LOL!
What is the easiest way to get both machines thinking the same way? Can I just copy some config files? (what files to copy into desktop lightburn folder)
Both computers are running windows 10 and the latest version of lightburn.

I won’t be able to get the desktop and the machine close enough to get it done that way.

You could copy over the prefs file from one computer to the other. If you want to specifically address just this issue then go to Edit->Device Settings->Additional Settings and make the “bad” computer match the “good” computer in terms of values there.

Thanks Berainlb it kinda worked…
I copied the setting manually and the 1:18 min preview now says 29 min! All the acceleration settings were at 50 on desktop—> 1000 on laptop.
However I closed lightburn and reopened the settings only to find the acceleration settings all back to 50 from 1000? It has been so long since I messed with setup I am very rusty. Am I missing something to make it stick?

As long as you’re hitting OK it should work. Do you have multiple device profiles on your computer that you switch between? If so, these settings are device specific and you’ll need to make sure you’re on the right device profile when you make the change.

If you redo the settings, does it revert back on closure every single time? If so, there might be something going on with the prefs file. In that case, then perhaps transfer the prefs file from laptop to desktop.

Not sure what was going on there. It would revert back every time. Couldn’t find a “prefs” file/folder. I ended up getting frustrated and copied the entire lightburn directory from the laptop to a USB and copied over the desktop install. We will see if anything changes after the next update but for now seems to be in sync with the laptop settings/ readings.

Location can be identified by going to File->open prefs folder.

Prefs aren’t stored in the LightBurn directory so don’t think this would have an effect unless you were potentially dealing with a corrupt installation.

In any case, glad this is working for you now.
