Key pad not jogging

Is there a way to jog the laser with a separate key pad which has separate number keys and arrow keys. My regular keyboard with number pad works fine. On the separate key pad there is no option to number lock since it is not needed with both number keys and arrow keys.
Thanks

Hello, You can set custom keys you want to jog the laser as you wish. I have bind ALT + CTRL + arrows.

I just reply to similar problem in my topic.

Note that while the customizable jog keys will indeed jog the laser that they are not equivalent to the jogging made available through the numpad. The work and behave in distinct ways.

What specific key pad is this? The keys would need to map to the equivalent numpad keys for this to work the same way as the numpad. If that’s not an option you could potentially attempt a couple of different strategies:

  1. Use a software solution that remaps the keys to the numpad equivalent
  2. Use the other jogging option as mentioned in the previous post

Thanks for responding. This is the key pad

Light burn will not capture the number key or the arrow keys on this keypad. I have used a Stream deck to do what you are suggesting for my CNC but it is an expensive option. (separate computer for CNC and laser). What software solution would you recommend? I assume that the key codes are different for a conventional keypad compared to the stand-alone keypad. If Lightburn would recognize these codes I don’t think it would be a problem.

I’m not familiar with that keypad. Surprised it doesn’t work.

What OS are you running? If you use Windows I’d suggest trying Powertoys that has a keyboard shortcut editor. However, if your numpad is not following conventions it’s possible that remapping the keys could affect your normal number keys. In any case, may be worth a shot.

Amazonki has a few cheap options.

Check post #50.

I have used Powertoys before but did not realize it had key mapping capability.
That looks interesting. I will check it out.
Thanks

Thanks parsec
Maybe I just need a more simple keypad. I just thought I could use the one I already have but…
I am curious as to why Lightburn will not recognize the codes that my keypad sends.

Post #50 is one like yours and he used Jordgubb “HID macros”.

I think this is the problem…

“The regular arrows are for moving the artwork, and I can’t tell those arrows apart from the numpad arrows - they’ll have the same key code, so unless I completely change their purpose, I can’t make that work.”
I think this will be my solution…

Now if OZ is listening could we have macros linked to shortcut keys?

A search on Github for hotkeys and shortcuts for different OS

Maybe one of the above is the solution.

I was thinking something more like OpenBuilds Control
(CNC control software)where you can create a macro and assign a shortcut as pictured.
