Im working with chinese laser for a month now and I am still new to this stuff, but as i figured the guy that worked before me with this laser couldn’t/didn’t realy maintain it properly, so first thing i did was clean all 4 mirrors and calibrated them, but i still have the same problem with cutting 8mm thick acrylic, in some spots(Mostly right side and bottom) laser can not cut trough even with multiple pases.
Any tips would be appriciated
Might want to let us know what kind of machine you’re working with. Most of these have 3 mirrors, so yours must be a different configuration. A link would be nice, photos are also great.
by 4th mirror i meant a lens inside the laser tube
And as for the machine I actually have no idea, the only thing the guy said to me was that it was from ebay, but i found picture of a laser that looks almost identical to mine.
Photo makes it clear… thank you.
Generally we call the first mirror you can adjust, m1 or mirror 1.
Keep in mind that if you have these three things
- properly working tube
- clean and aligned optics
- proper focus
They just work.
If I had to choose, I’d say it’s an alignment issue, however the tube could be out of resonance or TEM mode, which causes strange issues like this.
Many machines experience the 4th corner problem, where there is a misalignment occurring with only one of the corners.
This can be a critical alignment issue or the frame could be out of square.
Russ Sadler spoke about this in one of his videos and he’s been successful doing this by:
An infinitesimally small adjustment of m1 to correct this. If you move m1 too much, you throw all the alignment out, so it’s critical you don’t move it much. Never had the issue with mine, that leaves me unable to really suggest an amount but I’d think it’d be less than what the screw moves when you snug it down. Most want to take the screw with it to some extent when you’re trying to lock it.
If you can be more definitive of the areas that it’s failing and show us a photo of it’s mode, would be great. Also how aligned is aligned?
Well im not near the laser and wont be till tomorrow, but the tube should be in best condition the laser has only 270 work hours, optics are aligned by “professionals” our company bought the laser from them and they came like last week. I thought about the 4th corner problem but it can’t be, because my full right side as well as my bottom side ain’t cutting through, so by my knowledge it could be the tube, but considering the fact that i have almost less than a month of experience with lasers i will measure the bed because for me it logistically could be the problem and maybe we got scames and those guys whom we bought the laser from didn’t align/calibrate anything. Will post an update tomorrow
There are only three things you need to make these work.
If the tube is ok, then it must be optics and alignment or focus.
If you’re sure the tube is ok along with the alignment, that only leaves focus.
Make sense?
All of those are assumptions that, ideally, will prove to be correct.
However, you’re here because the machine is not working properly, so, as the saying went back in the day: “Trust, but verify.”
SOOOO, yea guys that was the focus, the bed was completely off, leveled it and now everything cuts as it should, thanks for provided information and support though:)
