Laser Performance - variable power mode

I have yet to see a Pause until User Resumes feature on a GCode device that works but I can see one way to soften the focus for the engrave layer.

On your Laser engraver, to begin with the engraving layer, de-focus your laser as you choose. In LightBurn, turn off the cutting layer. Send the engraving portion of the job, slightly de-focused, with no cutting to the Ortur LM3. With the engraving or marking complete, adjust your focus on the Laser Engraver for cutting. In LightBurn, turn off the engrave layer, turn on the Cut layer and send just the cutting portion of the job.

If the OLM3 had Z-Axis control you could enable Z-Axis Control in the Device Settings window and adjust the Z-Offset for a given layer in the Cut Settings Editor to create the engraving effect you’re looking for.

It pains me to say it but I believe you’re on the limits of the hardware with your feature request.

I use the Lightburn pause and resume button with an MKS DLC32 contoller running MKS firmware all the time. Works just fine in sychronous mode.

I see no reason why pausing for user input at the end of each layer couldn’t be implemented.

Now whether it’s worth the development effort and at what priority that effort would fall is an entirely other question.

Personally, I’d have more use for a pause after each shape/object option. Sometimes when cutting paper templates out of a 5’ x 20’ section of roll paper the cut shapes curl and get in the way of the laser head and need to be pulled off the table after each is cut.

Perhaps if others have needs for pause at end of layers or shapes they’ll create a feature request. In the meantime I’ll just excercise my spacebar.
