I’m looking to make some signs using laser cut ‘decals.’ If I were using a Cricut or CNC, I’d just use some colored vinyl, but I need to make the cuts with my CO2 laser, so Vinyl is out.
I’m aware that there is ‘PVC Free’ Vinyl out there, but I am having difficulty sourcing any that actually meets that spec.
Is anyone familiar with a reliable vendor for PVC Free Vinyl OR more preferably, a common alternative material that is laser safe, comes in multiple colors, has an adhesive backing and would offer a similar result?
It’s apparently polyurethane and made by Grafityp in Belgium:
I got some from a long-vanished Amazon seller with an entirely generic name, so my references are long outdated. It says “grafitack” on the back, which is apparently used for all of Graphityp’s PSA products.
It worked reasonably well, but I doubt the edges are suitable for long-term use in real life:
Just checked out their website - what cool products!! Looks like I might be a little hosed though as I’m in the United States - we typically frown on non-toxic, sustainable products and the result seems to be that they don’t currently have a dealer here. Ugh. I’m going to poke around online and see if I can source any of that stuff though. Great find, thank you for passing it on!!
