I, like a few others, messed with settings on my RD6442 controller within LB and messed something up. A little history here. I migrated from windows to Mac and had to setup my laser from scratch. I am connected via ethernet and on Mac Monterey with latest version of LB. My rotary was behaving erratic, slinging material off my rotary and homing was grinding. I managed to adjust a few settings and it is engraving on the rotary.
My problem is that my travel speeds are not what they used to be and when I engrave, the laser head travels right and left of the image by several inches unnecessarily thus drastically increasing cut times. It used to focus on the image and only move where it needed to cut and very quickly. I have a video to show if I am able to upload.
You can post a video by loading it into something like Google drive… set the protection so anyone with the link can access it… Post the link here…
There is a 4mB limit to file sizes on the site, but links are not an issue.
I hope you saved the machines configuration before you started hosing around with it. You should always save a factory configuration… it’s cheap insurance. And you have to write it back to use the Y table again…
I have multiple machine configurations for my OMTech, with the rotary…
You have to slow down acceleration and maximum speed in the rotational direction of the rotary. It also helps us if we know the type of rotary… chuck or wheel (roller)…
Jack, unfortunately I did not save a backup. Here is the link to what she is doing.
Stock Omtech roller rotary. I was able to slow down the rotary to the speed it was before but it’s still behaving oddly. Not homing correctly when rotary is attached, sloth like speeds for returning to origin etc.
Well, the machine remained unchanged from when it worked on windows. I just left the rotary plugged in and setup new device on the Mac. It had been working for over a year no issues. My windows machine was an old win7 and was starting to give me errors on software is the only reason I switched to my MacBook.
I can’t explain why it travels so much further past the image to engrave on both directions.
I think I messed up something under vendor settings to be honest. Is it possible to get the original settings and write those to the controller? Sometimes I wonder why I tinker with things that appear to be working just fine (minus the old windows version lol)
Jack, I wanted to let you know I was able to get the machine reset to default params by the vendor and that totally corrected my issues. I obviously messed with something under the hood and this solved my issue. Omtech support got back to me w/in 12 hours.
