Lightburn Epilog compatibility

Hi community,
I recently found tis topic which has been closed already (unfortunately):

Unfortunately, there’s no Lightburn native support for Epilog devices.
I know these machines are hard to develop for due to their proprietary driver.
I also recently found a tool called VisiCut which is open source and is able to send jobs to Epilog machines without the need of Epilog’s driver:

This tool works absolutely flawlessly but is lacking the possibility to draw and design stuff like LB does.
Would there be a chance that Lightburn devs have a look at it and maybe implement similar functions into LB in the future? That would be a HUGE thing for us Epilog users, although we might be a small userbase.

Thanks and have a nice weekend!
Paul

You’ll find the drawing functions in Inkscape, which directly interfaces with Visicut.

Basically, you draw in Inkscape, then export the SVG results to Visicut: set up the cutting / engraving parameters and away it goes.

Yeah, I’m using the Inkscape Plugin but it would be way more streamlined if there was the possibility to use the Epilog directly from LB
I’m not too confident with Inkscape to be honest and I just like drawing in LV way more.

Do you have a newer Epilog that uses Dashboard, or an older Epilog that uses Job Manager?

I learned how to use laser cutters on an Epilog via VisiCut/Inkscape. If you don’t like that combo, have you tried using LightBurn to create your design? You can export the SVG and load into VisiCut or into Inkscape+VisiCut plugin.

It’s an older one that uses the Job Manager

My idea is about streamlining the process.
I’m aware of the possibilities but eliminating dedicated tools is always a good idea for simplicity
VisiCut shows that a connection to the machine is possible without the Epilog driver

You probably nailed it in your first post, small Epilog user base. LightBurn has been trimming their dev support due to small user base(Linux) and VisiCut has been around for longer than LightBurn has existed. Maybe there is a version of Inkscape which has a more basic UI to simplify operations as LightBurn has.

I’m totally aware of the small userbase.
Still, in my perfect utopia, there will be Epilog support in the future

Exactly why I specifically mentioned you mentioning that in your earlier post.
Ah, Utopia, where are you and what’s taking you so long?
