Lightburn no longer auto focuses Z-Height on Monport Onyx R

Hello,
I have a Monport Onyx R Co2 Laser. This uses a Ruida controller. I used 1.7.08 and had no issues with controller the laser. Switching over to 2.0 and its variants, and the auto focus for the Z-Height no longer works. I also have an issue with trying to move in mm increments. When trying to do this, it just pushes the laser into the material until the laser errors. It will adjust when set to continuous jog, but I am unable to get it to focus properly as it moves a specific distance and then stops. I have tried the rest of the Z settings in Z-Control under device settings, but nothing helps.

So for now, I have switched back to version 1.7.08, where things work again. I have seen the thread, Monport Onyx R ; Z seemingly switched with U axis, which alludes to the issues with this, but nothing has changed, and that thread is closed. I’m hopeful that someone can see what’s different between 1.7.08 and 2.0 and get this working again. Thanks for looking into it.

Just a guess, but have you tried importing the .lbprefs file dated just before the update to Lightburn?

I haven’t. I’ll look around and see how to get that file. Thanks for the idea.

Doing that fixed the auto focus. Thanks. However, it did not fix the other issues with z height control.

At least autofocus is back though.

This sounds like a bug that Lightburn should be made aware of.

Maybe @NicholasL can get through this and help us out.

Are you still have problems moving in mm increments?

Check your Z-settings here in the Move window, especially Z-Distance which is a new setting:

Yes. Instead of changing by the assigned movement number, say even 1mm, the z crashes to the bed and then the engraver tosses an error. I have to restart the machine to clear it. Unfortunately, I do not have a control panel on the machine to be able to give you more information on the error or what else is happening. I do know that with the auto focus button it works after I updated the info from the older version as mentioned above.

Sorry for the late reply.

Just to let everyone know. I still have the issue with the Lightburn not being able to manually adjust the Z-height with version 2.0.04. I am willing to test anything needed to help with this. Thank you.
