Lightburn suddenly not recognizing laser after 2 years of no issues

After using Lightburn on my MacBook Pro with no issues for 2 years, Lightburn does not recognize my Fox Alien diode laser. My MacBook Pro is running the most updated Big Sur. I am using the latest update for Lightburn. After scouring the internet and this forum for over 6 hours, this is what I have done so far: shut down and restart my laptaop many many times; made sure my laser is on; tried a new USB cord; tested my USB port with an external keyboard and printer to ensure functioning port

When I try to “Find My Laser”, the scan shows no options.

At this point, I’m hoping it is something really easy and I will survive the embarassment of how easy it is. I have a customer’s order to fulfill and am desperate.

Open a Terminal please

Type this command and press enter with your device unplugged fro USB

ioreg -p IOUSB

Once done, plug the device and power it on
Repeat the command

Take a screenshot of the output please?

I have no idea if I executed your directions correctly. I have very limited knowledge and had to google what you wanted me to do. Not your fault at all, just me and my very limited experience. Thank you for being so patient.

It looks like everything ran correctly.

Is this image with Laser plugged in, or unplugged?

In order to test this correctly, you will need to do it twice, so we can see the difference between the two and see if the laser is detected.

a) run the command ONCE with laser unplugged from USB
b) run the command again with laser plugged in and powered on

The screenshot I sent was with the laser on and USB plugged in.

I will do another screenshot with the laser unplugged. Thank you again for your patience.

Can you close lightburn and open it again and click the dropdown again to confirm if any cu-usbmodem or serial port shows on the drop down now?

I quit lightburn and reopened. Nothing has changed. Not showing any cu-usbmodem or serial ports.

I am confused because definitly OS can see it

Do this for me:
a) About this mac - can you take a screenshot
b) what version of Lightburn please?

Did this issue happen just after you updated Lightburn Or the OS?

1.6.03
About this mac

I am always updating lightburn and the OS is updated automatically. So I don’t really know. I last used the laser about 3 weeks ago.

I just added my lightburn account to my husband’s laptop. And plugged in the USB to the laser, and it is not recognizing the laser via scanning for a connected device either.

Now thats peculiar,

Out of curiosity, any Windows computer you could use just for sanity check?

It’s probably something so obvious, but i just can’t figure it out.

Good question. My husband’s laptop is windows.

I feel like I’m in an episode of the twilight zone (I’m showing my age). I just rescanned on lightburn to identify a laser on my husband’s windows laptop and it did recognize it this time. Let me try it on my mac again.

The forum cut me off from making any additional posts my “first day” using the forum. But I wanted to close the loop since you have been so generous with your time and assistance. Lightburn on my mac is still not recognizing my laser. I will try to transfer some files over to my husband’s laptop so I can get this order for a customer in the mail today. If no one has told you yet today, you are AWESOME

@gilaraujo You are being hailed

Thank you for the kind words!
Anyone in the great LightBurn community would have given help, just happened to be the first in line

I am still trying to understand why your MacBook Pro is not working, trying to find the charger of my MacBook Pro I will report back.

@cmras Additional small suggestion - use Bundles to migrate libraries and your settings to your Windows Lightburn
