I have been at this for a few hours now. Apriltags with V 2.1 and I have a Gweike Cloud 55w Co2. I have used 5 different sizes of the AprilTags. I reduce the size by 10% starting at 90% down to 50%. I have tried this with the Cover open and on the honeycomb bed. I have white paper layed down on the bed when doing the calibration. I also taped the AprilTags to pieces of wood so they are flat and do not move.
The best “score” i have gotten was 72%. It states when calibrating the camera, using larger size apriltags is good. It also says the more captures you complete in various locations on the bed, the better the results. One of the calibration attempts, I did 68 captures.
after the calibration, A capture in Lightburn doesn’t show the complete bed. About 10% of each of the top and bottom edge, and like 20% of each side is not captured.
Has anyone else had this issue? If so, do you have any suggestions on how to fix this?
This is one of the last threads on the subject…, try to find more and see if there is anything that can help you.
In your picture the target plate is shown on the head, if you manually align the camera then it is crucial that you adhere to the direction and order, but use April Taget - also for camera calibration, it is by far the most precise and easy way.
I’m also a little concerned about your image quality.
You may need to adjust your camera’s exposure/light settings.
Ps. It is possible to get a reasonably reasonable and usable camera alignment, but it requires patience and following LB recommendations.
Ps2. My “performance”% rating doesn’t get higher than a little bit into the eighties either
The picture shows a “fine adjustment test plate” which gives me an indication of my lens quality. I use it to calculate an average fine adjustment or to find the most precise camera coverage area on my machine.
(this is the uncorrected result after lens and camera alignment, after fine-tuning I can get about 0.2mm on average on most of my machine bed)
I should have stated that the tags and manual alignments in the picture are burnt on the opposite side of the white paper. I had flipped the white paper upside down and took a capture with the camera. The Apriltags and manual alignments are from the laser almost burning through the while paper I was using for alignment. The only thing that is wrong is the size of the capture Lightburn took.
…I have bad experiences with white (paper) or too dark material for calibration. But first for those I couldn’t adjust the camera well enough on Mac-LB version. (I can do that now)
