LightBurn Won’t Start – Loads but Doesn’t Open

Hi everyone,

I’m experiencing an issue with LightBurn. A few days ago, it stopped working on my PC. The program seems to load, but the window doesn’t open. It was working perfectly fine just a couple of days ago, and I haven’t made any changes to my system—no Windows updates or anything like that.

I would prefer not to reinstall the software because I’m worried about losing my settings. Unfortunately, I haven’t created a backup, and since the program won’t open, I can’t create one now.

Here’s what I’ve already tried:

  • Looking for the running process in Task Manager and it is not listed

  • Holding the Shift key while starting to reset settings.

  • Restarting my computer.

My Questions:

  • Is there a way to back up my settings manually without opening the program?
  • I’ve read that settings are stored in a folder, but I’m not sure how to find it or secure them properly.
  • Does anyone know of a fix for this issue?

Additional Information:

  • Operating system: Windows 11

  • LightBurn version: 1.7.03

I’d greatly appreciate any advice or guidance!

Best regards,

Peter

Hi everyone,

thank you gilaraujo for your workflow. I didn´t see it before. Now I have fixed the problem by myself. I wanted to share how I managed to fix the issue with LightBurn not starting while keeping my settings intact. Hopefully, this helps anyone facing a similar problem!

Here’s what worked for me:

Backup your settings:

  1. Navigate to:

    C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\LightBurn

Make sure to enable hidden files to see this folder.
Copy and save the entire LightBurn folder as a backup.

  2. Uninstall LightBurn:

Completely uninstall LightBurn from your system.
Go back to the above folder and delete the remaining files in C:\Users<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\LightBurn.

  3. Install an older version:

I installed LightBurn v1.6.03, which you can download from the LightBurn website’s archive (if available).

  1. Restore your settings:

After installation, paste your backed-up files back into the folder:

    C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Local\LightBurn
  1. Launch LightBurn

So I can work, since I try the other workflow. Thank you!

So, I tried the other workout and after installing the redistributables and update Lightburn again to 1.7, I can start the program. Thank you, for your help!
