Lightburn won't open after v1.7.0 update

I just installed v1.7.0 while in the middle of a big project and now Lightburn will not even open. Help!

Try this for me please

Visit this page - download both redistributable
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe
https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x86.exe

Install and update your C++ Redistributable
Once done - run 1.7 installer again

IF it doesn’t work - could you please go to Start menu
Event Viewer

On the left side WIndows Logs > Applications
Do you see any Big Red error related to Lightburn.exe, if so could you share some screenshots of the “general tab” that describe the error.

Having the same issue! Installing the VC_redist files and reinstalling Lightburn doesn’t help. Screenshot attached. Got a client coming in soon… lessons learned, never update when you don’t have time for troubleshooting.

My policy has always been don’t update just for the sake of having the latest version. Saves me a lot of frustration.

Well it has new features, so it’s not just to have the latest version.
But waiting a bit seems like a good idea, haha.

Hi.

Sure it does, but what good will those new features do if the software for some reason doesn’t work at all as a result.

I haven’t tried it, but AFAIK downdating LB back to the previous working version is as easy as updating, so at least there’s that option.
Not that many systems or software sport that choice, so why not use that option while the reason for the glitch is being investigated :slight_smile: .

Try removing the previous Visual Studio redistributables from your computer, then installing the posted version. There have been a couple of users who’ve had to do that to make it work.

I am having the same issue and removing all previous VS Distributables and reinstalling 1.7.01 has not fixed the issue. v1.6.03 works fine.
Same errors in event log as shown in this thread.

Any lucking in getting this to work yet? I have reverted back to 1.6.03.

Same experience as smellyboy; 1.7.00 and 1.7.01 will not launch for me. I tried uninstalling all VS redists and reinstalling them, latest version. Also rebooted etc, simply can’t get LB 1.7.00/01 to launch :frowning: reverted back to 1.6.03 now.

Windows 11, latest updates.
