I have a new Longer Nano Ruby machine which is connected. It starts engraving, but nothing is actually being engraved. Could you please advise if there are any special adjustments required for this type of machine, or where the issue might be? I have tried many things, but without any positive results. After setting up the camera, I cannot engrave or perform alignment, and even framing does not work. Maybe it’s something simple, and I’m just missing it :-).
I think the adjustments need to be in the project, not the machine. Without knowing your material and Lightburn work settings, any advice would be of no value.
It sounds like your focus isn’t set correctly, but it could also be that your laser is not capable of marking the material you’re trying to laser. Are you using settings recommended by your laser manufacturer?
The inability to frame is peculiar, as that is a visible light function and as such, material composition would not matter. Is there a separate power switch for the laser beam? My CO2 laser has a master power and I’ve lost track of the jobs I’ve started without turning on the laser switch. Although in those cases, the framing works, as it is a separate set of LED line lasers with a dedicated switch and would not be comparable to the difficulties you are experiencing.
I used “NanoDuo.lbdev,” which is recommended in the manual and also on the official website.
Everything is without errors and without alarms. The focus is set to the manufacturer’s recommended distance of 150 mm, with manual fine adjustment so that the aiming points overlap into a single point, again according to the manufacturer’s recommendation.
One more important thing. Engraving works in LaserBurn. I couldn’t find any significant difference in the settings or anything critical. I also verified the license validity and checked other things to make sure I didn’t overlook anything.
Would sharing any file or log from LightBurn help?
I thought this was a typo, but I see it is their proprietary software. This means they have access to communication details not shared with the Lightburn developers. so yes, it is going to do things Lightburn cannot. Your “just sits there” also suggests it is not really Lightburn compatible.
Maybe you can try reinstalling this file. If I remember right, you just drag it into the Lightburn grid area to load it.
