Material Settings for Acrylics

Dear Lightburn Community,

we are completly new to Lightburn /w our new red/black China Laser(80 watt). We bought it next to our trotec speedy 100(40 watt). Lightburn looks like a great software so far but we sadly doesn´t find the right settings for acrylic so far. Maybe you can help us out with your settings?
Our China laser looks exactly like the one on https://lightburnsoftware.com/ but I don´t know the board.

Trotec Speedy 100 (40watt)
Acrylic 4mm
Engrave
Power 100
Speed 95
PPI/Hz 1000 PPI

Cut
Power 90
Speed . 25
PPI/Hz 1000 Hz

China 80watt
No working settings yet :frowning:

Thanks a lot for your help!

When you say,

Can you please elaborate. LightBurn supports many different laser types so it is not practical for us to provide settings for each material type for each system we support. Running test files to determine the best settings for your laser is the best approach. Once you have dialed in the settings that work best, you can save them to the ‘Materials Library’ to easily apply to a future job.

Below is an example of a testing grid used for this purpose. You will need to adjust the setting within this file for your system.

This test file uses the ‘Power Scale’ feature and this describes how to use it.

Additionally, Boss Laser has a list of starting points for settings on their site, with different values for different wattage machines: https://www.bosslaser.com/laser-settings

It won’t be perfect, but it should get you going.

Hey Rick,

thanks a lot for your reply. Looks like a great way to find the right settings.

Have a great day,
Chris
